iPod Advantages

So you just bought a new iPod. I simply love my iPod and take it with me everywhere to listen to music. However, the iPod has many more uses than just being used for music. While the iPod was first marketed as a new device to listen to music, iPod has grown to include other uses that other MP3 devices simply do not have. One of the uses is in education.

In 2004, Duke University started an experiment that involved giving away free 20GB iPods equiped with a voice recorder to incoming freshmen. The purpose was to use the iPods as academic tools. The intention was for the iPod to be used to record lectures and play language learning tools. The project was somewhat successful with about 60% of students using the recording capabilities for academic purposes and the hard-drive and database capabilities being used by about 28%.

Since then, the uses of the iPod have become quite extensive with new devices being created specifically for the iPod. Indeed, you could spend hundreds of dollars on gadgets just to make your iPod more useful and with the latest batch of new iPods storing up to 60GB of information, you have a storage device that is highly competitive with flash drives, I mean why buy a 1GB flash drive for $100 bucks when you could buy an iPod.
